  • Buying cheap clothing – is it economical?

    Buying clothes may be something you love doing or you may just see it more of a necessity. You may not want to spend too much money on clothes so look to buy cheaper items. But is the old saying true that buy cheap buy twice? This not only applies to clothing but to many different types of products.. and although there may be some truth is the saying, its not always correct.

    Some people simply will not buy cheap clothing because they feel that the quality is poor and they do not last well.

    When it comes to deciding where to buy your clothes from you often have a massive choice. You may opt for one of the cheaper clothing shops such as Primark or the supermarkets or a designer / high end shop such as House of Fraser, Tommy Hilfiger or Flannels. It may be that you can get quadruple the amount of clothing from Primark that you would for one item for Flannels, but does that mean it’s worth ditching quality for quantity?

    If you are in the need of clothing that doesn’t really need to last long or that is for work, which may get ruined quickly, then cheap is probably the best way to go. If you are looking for a staple item for your wardrobe then you may be better to opt for quality and pay a little more.

  • Capturing special moments with jewellery

    Certain pieces of jewellery can often have a lot of sentimental value for people. It may be that a particular piece has been handed down through generations so has a lot of history attached to it. It may not be an old piece of jewellery that has sentimental value. You can now get bracelets and necklaces that have a pendent on that contains the footprints or hand prints of a loved one. This may be someone that is still here or someone that has passed away. This can bring a lot of comfort to many people and is something to treasure for years to come.

    Sometimes people choose to have pets cremated and then some of their ashes put into a necklace or bracelet. Knowing that there is a part of them that is always close can help the grieving process for many people.

    Charm bracelets such as Pandora, can also be sentimental to many as they may associate certain memories with each charm. They may remember where or why they got a charm and instantly, when they look at it, recall that special day.

    If you have jewellery that is special to you, try and ensure you look after it and that it is kept safe when you are not wearing it.

  • Finding clothing for a fancy dress party or themed night

    If you have been invited to a fancy dress party or a themed night then you need to allow plenty of time to find an outfit. If you leave it until the last minute you may not be able to get what you want and will often have to pay quite a lot more than if you had ordered it early.

    First do some research as to what sorts of outfits you may be able to wear. It could be a super heroes fancy dress for example or maybe a 1950’s night. Once you know the sorts of outfits, try and think about what you would like. It doesn’t have to be silly, you may decide that you still want to look good even if you are dresses up.

    IF the theme is an era then you may want to look for quality vintage clothing instead. You may pay a little more than for a fancy dress costume but it will be a lot better made and look more authentic. You can also be quite confident that no one will have exactly the same thing on a you. You may even drop lucky and be able to pick up an outfit from a charity shop that is just perfect for the occasion.

  • The world of online shopping

    Over the last 18 months the world of online shopping has grown even more. When Covid hit and the UK was forced into lockdowns, many retailers were not able to trade in person and instead had to resort to online selling instead. IF they didn’t already have an online shop then they had to have one created. Even though they since may have been able to reopen, many have still continued to trade online.

    The average online shopper spends £40 each month on clothes, shoes, beauty and accessories. Since the pandemic more people have said that they shop online for more items than previously and even use the internet more often for daily tasks such as checking the weather and the news

    Is there still a need for high street stores? This is a question many people are starting to wonder. High street stores, at present are needed as there are still some people that would prefer to go and look at something or try it on before they buy but it is likely over time that less and less people will venture out to the shops unless the word of retail changes significantly. Lots of online stores offer next day delivery but if you need something urgently then you may need to go to a store to get it.

  • Getting your child’s ears pierced

    When it comes to ear piercing, many adults have different views on when their child should be able to get them done. Some adults will even pierce their child’s ear right from a very young age, before they are one and other parents may wait until their child is at secondary school to have them done.

    It has to be a personal choice but there are somethings to consider. The child will need to be able to clean their ears every day or have someone that will do it for them to prevent infection. If this is not possibly then they may get infected which can cause scarring and other issues.

    When choosing the place to take your child to have their ears pierced, you should try and find somewhere that has been recommended to you or where you can read plenty of reviews and ideally see some images. Some places still pierce ears with a gun whereas others use a needle. There are still mixed reviews on which are best but often the needle is said to be safer although it may hurt a little more. You need to ensure that the jewellery that is being used when the ears are pierced is f a good quality as it won’t be able to be removed for 6 weeks.
