Buying and selling second hand jewellery

Jewellery is something that can range vastly in price. You can often buy costume jewellery for as little as a few pounds apiece but if you are looking for something that is made from a high quality metal such as Gold or that has precious stones within it, then you can easily climb in to the thousands.

Buying second hand jewellery can certainly save you a pretty penny as usually second hand jewellery is only worth its scrap value. When buying from a shop they add their own percentage on which you often will not recoup. Rings that have been bought for £1000 are often sold for less than £100 a year or so later, making it a great bargain for the next person.

When selling second hand jewellery you need to know where to go to sell it. I would always advise obtaining a few different prices before deciding how much to let it go for and never leave it with someone to be valued without adequate proof that you are the owner and it has been left in their care.
